Last Saturday during the fundraising drive for Carol Atuhirwe who is battling throat and lung cancer, many artistes turned up to show their support but Bobi Wine stood out from the rest by the words he said during the car wash event.
The self-proclaimed ‘Ghetto president’ came out and lashed at the government for their failure to strengthen the health care system. “This event is not only for Carol but for the Government to wake up and realize the need to strengthen the health care system. “Well as Carol has visibility and support to get well-wishers on her side but hundreds continue to die in villages because they can’t get such support.” Bobi said.
Perhaps this is what trickled Ibrahim Kitatta, the National Resistance Movement youth central region league chairman to contribute 5million shillings which by far was the biggest cash contribution.
A total of 53.7 million was collected at the end of the day for the fundraise drive which also had other artistes like Nince Henry, Khalifa Aganaga, Pallaso, Sheeba, A Pass, Coco Finger, Leila Kayondo, Irene Ntale and Winnie Nwagi in attendance.
