With most star singers still contemplating how to overcome public rage over their decision to go to bed with President Museveni, their brothers and sisters in the comedy world are busy spreading their wings to cover up the gaps.
A major case in point is comedian Alex Muhangi aka Aleku, who has in the past few months traversed the world doing what he does best; crack ribs!
In the past two months, Muhangi has been to Europe, USA, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya. Muhangi performed with some of the world’s most respected comedians at the Improv in USA, before he cracked Tanzania at the ‘Funny Fellas’ comedy show.
And over the weekend, Muhangi was in Nairobi where he left a mark at the East Africa’s Comedy Tuesday that was held at the Kenya National Theatre.
The star-studded show lineup included names like Kenya’s Eric Omondi, Dr Ofweneke, Eddie Butita and David The Student, Rwanda’s Arthur Nkusi, as well as Idris Sultan and Captain Khalid from Tanzania.
Muhangi had a good day on stage as he took swipes at Kenyan celebrities Hudda, Sauti Sol, and Nameless who were in attendance.
Well, looks like the best is yet to come for Muhangi; the latest on our desk is that the comedian will be part of entertainers at The African Comedy Festival slated for June 25 at the Copper Box Arena in London-, UK. The show is one of the biggest comedy platforms for African comedians world over. All the best Aleku; keep flying the Ugandan flag high.
