We suffered difficulties – Wavamunno

wbs
WBS TV with effect from today is going to be under new management for an unspecified period of time after URA took over the premises for failure to pay tax arrears amounting to 7.2 billion shillings.
According to an employee at the Naguru TV station names withheld, the new managing director will run the organisation until the 7.2 billion is recovered. “URA together with WBS have appointed a new managing director to run the organization until the 7.2 billion is recovered.” He told us.
However, in a press conference held at WBS headquarters in Naguru, the owner of the station Gordon Wavamunno also confirmed this news by announcing that he had reached an agreement with URA to have his TV station run by a ‘receiver manager’ until the arrears owed to the tax body are cleared. Thereafter the station will be handed back to him.
“We suffered a few difficulties in the running of the company starting a few years ago, but we have reached an agreement with URA to have a receiver take possession of the company until the tax body has recovered all its outstanding arrears,” Wavamunno said.
The debts the TV station owes to URA include ‘Pay as you earn’ and ‘value added tax’ and both have been accumulating for the last 10 years.
Kenneth Kabito Karamagi, a lawyer with Ligomarc Advocates is the new receiver manager and will first take up that position for 45 days in order to see how the station gets its revenues, get to know about all the employees, find more debts among other errands at the station. The tax body will decide on the next move after that.
