When you see the artistes on this track, all you can imagine is a powerful force driving into the air waves ready to tear down charts. Unfortunately, it seems to be the reverse. Maro of the Kamboyine fame and self-proclaimed musical kyabazinga, features Iryn Namubiru on his latest track, Addicted. God knows both these artistes are great vocalists but they decided to ignore the English adage that says too much of everything is too bad. The song is full of prolonged notes from each of the artistes. One won’t doubt the passion they must have put in this piece of art but that is just their story, the song is not that friendly to the ear. Fortunately, this song is not bad news throughout. The base of the track which is the instrumental, is a blend of Latino and same percussions which is proper for the love story they emulate. Maro sings of this girl who stole his heart and he cannot find another, while Namubiru answers him, singing of how she cannot concentrate at work, all she sees is him. They deliver a good storyline in relation with the title of the song. Maro maintains his kingship feeding the people from Busoga with a verse in his mother tongue, at the same time he does not forget his audience, mixing in English and Luganda in the chorus and bridge. With artistes like these two who have earned a spot on the local music charts, a better collaboration would do justice.
