This is a pretty old movie but all the same an interesting one with a good sense of humour. It is one that you can watch over and over. It is about Reed (Loan Gruffudd) a brilliant physicist who has not been lucky coming up with a science venture to earn him money or get him investors. But he soldiers on until a project he is working on leaves him convinced that a certain kind of clouds can be used to heal some diseases. Proving this needs building a space station which he cannot afford. So together with his friend and astronaut Ben (Michael Chiklis), Reed convinces Victor (Julian McMahon), his former classmate, to allow him access to his space station to test the effects of exposure to the cloud.
Victor agrees in exchange for control over the experiment and a majority of the profits from whatever benefits it brings. Things become awkward when Victor brings on board Susan (Jessica Alba) who is Reed’s ex-girlfriend and is now a researcher and Victor’s girlfriend. Also on the team is her ex-astronaut younger brother, Johnny (Chris Evans).
When the scientists and astronauts finally go out, something goes wrong exposing them to a radiation that gives them superpowers. They become all sorts of weird and have to use them to oppose the plans of their enemy. It is interesting to watch them adjust. I also watched Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer which was released in 2007. Both are interesting, I watched them one after another but it felt like one movie. I am yet to watch another of the same name as the first, which was released in 2015.
