For some reason, we are made to think that everything that comes out of Hollywood is good; another block buster or award winning film. I thought the same until I watched Weaponised. The guy I buy from my films assured me it was the deal so I braced myself for it. The director, Timothy Woodward, and his producer were really pushing for another James Bond movie but this was an epic fail. It starts with a father, Tom Sizzermore, making a call to his son on his birthday before a bomb attack blows up the building where he works and leaves his son and hundreds more dead. Sizzermore is forced to develop a scientific innovation that allows American soldiers to occupy the body and mind of terrorists who turn against themselves instead of attacking American soil. However, he tests the technology with the murder of a Senator who opposed the idea. Several other civilians die along, leading to an investigation. Woodward, who also acts as a retired soldier, is forced to commit murders before being forced into suicide, while chief detective, Johnny Messner, tries to solve the case. Once they find out he is getting too close to the truth, Messner’s wife is weaponised to kill him but fails. This is after chief medic at the facility takes over the mind of the first doctor to leak information to Messner. The story is a good one, but the acting is too plastic and the plot a little confusing. Throughout the first half of the movie you are struggling to connect events and they keep introducing new characters. It is like watching a KinaUganda. But the shot of Messner carrying his daughter out of an accident meant to kill him is so dramatically wrong. His wife’s apology scene is so off, then Cullen Chambers seemed to be struggling with his lines.
