It is called G&G, which stands for Gorgeous & Glamorous.
What does the boutique deal in?
We sell ladies accessories such as handbags, earrings, wallets, clutches, sandals and hair accessories.
How much do you sell your items?
Our bags go for between Shs70,000 and Shs150,000, sandals are Shs35,000 to Shs60,000, we sell our earrings at Shs10,000 to Shs20,000 and hair accessories are from Shs5,000 to Shs10,000.
How much did you invest in G&G?
When the business was opened in 2006, I was still at campus, so I am in no position to mention how much my mother and sister invested.
Where do you buy your items from?
Various countries such as Dubai, United Kingdom and Thailand.
What are the challenges you face doing this kind of business?
There is stiff competition, and tricky seasons where expenses are high during some months yet the profits are low. Also, some clients have attitude issues and are difficult to deal with and of course the rent keeps escalating every now and then.
What are the benefits you have got from doing this business?
I have got opportunities through this business. For example, my network has increased. I have made more friends through these networks and I have been able to look after myself and family because of G&G.
