Like we told you last week, singer Angella Katatumba through her Angella Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) recently partnered with Mulago hospital administration in a campaign dubbed Mulago Yaffe, Luganda for Our Mulago.
Angella came up with the idea after an impromptu visit to the hospital last year; the singer said she was touched by the conditions there and swore to make a change.
She said the campaign is aimed at uplifting the status of the country’s biggest government referral hospital.
And last Friday morning, business came to a standstill at the hospital as Angella and her team, dressed in grey Mulago Yaffe T-shirts, stormed Mulago to make their first donation.
The team made their way to the special care ward where she handed over a Shs10m cheque to David Obluk, the head of medical equipment at Crown Health Care Ltd, who will deliver the equipment to the hospital. The facility spokesperson, Enock Kusasira, witnessed the handover. Angella said she would soon return to deliver donations from tycoons Gordon Wavamunno, who donated up to Shs30m worth of brand new clothes, blankets and other items to the maternity ward, and Amos Nzeyi, who offered millions worth of food and beverage.
The singer called upon everyone who feels they can donate anything to the cause to either deliver it to Mulago hospital management or at Hotel Diplomate in Muyenga. Way to go!
