Angela Katatumba might not be among the biggest musicians in the country, but she always stands out when it comes to charity. She started off with For You Gulu and she touched several souls in the war-torn north back then, through donations. She also made sure different people saw what was going on in the north through videos played at her fundraising events.
She later came back with Let’s Go Green, a campaign she did alongside the British Council.
And Angela is at it again; this time round, the singer is focusing on uplifting the status of our biggest government referral – Mulago hospital. The singer, through her Angella Katatumba Development Foundation, recently launched a campaign dubbed Mulago Yaffe in partnership with Mulago hospital.
According to Angella, the project is geared towards raising awareness and standards of sanitation and healthcare services across the country. With more than 10 years of successful charitable causes, Angella has already attracted a number of concerned citizens.
Spear Motors boss Gordon Wavamunno leads the donation list after contributing up to Shs30m worth of new clothes, blankets and other items to the maternity ward.
Kampala Pharmaceutical Industries offered a coat of paint for the paediatric ward, tycoon Amos Nzeyi recently offered millions worth of food and beverages, while the Pakistan Consulate offered to transport the donations.
Angella was due to deliver some of the donations she has received so far to Mulago Hospital management yesterday; and she swore not to rest until there is some notable change at the facility. Way to go Angella!
