Hyped to be the best fashion awards in Africa, the Abryanz Fashion Awards (ASFAs) slated for next Saturday at Kampala Serena Hotel seem to have a whole pack of surprises for us.
Like we told you a few weeks ago, Nigerian multi-award winning singer Banky W will headline the awards gala that will be hosted by Kenyan diva Vera Sidika, aka Queen Vee.
Well, just when we thought the list was done, we got a call from Brian Ahumuza, founder of the awards, earlier this week who updated us on the line up that includes Africa’s big names.
The list has Former Big Brother Africa stars Tayo Faniran from Nigeria, and Tanzanian BBA Hotshots winner Idris Sultan.
But top on the list was the four-member Kenyan Afro-pop boyband Sauti Sol, who will be here to just attend the awards ceremony.
The Kenyan group has only staged one performance in Uganda and are remembered for performing for US President Barrack Obama during his visit to Nairobi; of course, we cannot fail to mention that they actually made the world’s biggest leader dance.
Having started in 2013 with a glamorous ASFAs occasion that saw different fashionistas rewarded for their contribution to the fashion industry, the Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards have risen to command the respect they do, not only in the region, but continentally.
Brian, the ASFAs honcho founder, says there is more to come.
