Even if he works on a local TV station, DJ Shiru still made it to international music channel MTV Base. He was the guest spinner on MTV’s DJ Take Over last Friday and going by the compliments he received, the Ugandan showed why he has been in the game for more than a decade, and that experience and creativity is the recipe to stay on top.
DJ Shiru has been nominated in several continental awards under the categories of Best DJ East Africa and Best African DJ. As expected, he has won some and lost some.
When contacted, Shiru said his time on MTV Base is another opportunity for Africa to watch and discover how good he is: “I was there because I am respected; that was a chance for my competitors who had never seen me play and some people out there that have been wondering who this East African DJ who is almost on all award nomination lists in Africa is.”
