Miss Uganda Zahara is Mirinda Brand Ambassador

She might not be enjoying as much media hype as her predecessor Leila Kalanguka, but reigning Miss Uganda Zahara Nakiyaga has something more practical to smile about.
The beauty queen, whose looks were criticised by former Miss Uganda organiser, Sylvia Owori, was earlier this week announced as the new Mirinda Brand Ambassador. The soft drink, a brand from Crown Beverages Limited, entered a deal with Zahara to represent and promote the rand for the next seven months.
Mr Jeff Sekandi, the customer marketing manager for Crown Beverages Limited, announced Shs10.5m for Zahara, saying the package will cater for her monthly allowance and fuel.
“Miss Uganda has a long and memorable history. We strongly support activities that help today’s woman become confident, bold, outgoing, inspirational, and aspirational. The Ugandan woman has the potential to inspire and be a change agent in society,” he said.
Ms Brenda Nanyonjo, the franchise holder of Miss World licence in Uganda, thanked Mirinda for the kind gesture and the value it attaches to the annual pageant: “Most brands focus on the event, not what happens after the crowning ceremony. I am told this will make the partnership between Miss Uganda and Mirinda stronger.”
Mirinda has been part of the Miss Uganda journey with Kezzi Entertainment for the past three years and the brand sponsored this year’s pageant to a tune of Shs40m.
