“Stars never die, they rest,” goes an English saying. Fans and family of the late Bob Marley live this saying, as they celebrate his birthday, decades after his passing. Well, always trust Ugandans in showbiz to take up anything trending in Jamaica and US.
The latest is that a group of fans and friends of late singer Emmanuel Mayanja aka AK47 have borrowed the trend. They embarked on organising a birthday party for the singer, who passed on in February.
A source told us preparations are in high gear for AK47’s 25th birthday celebrations slated for October 29 at Club Venom. The source said the late singer’s older brothers Jose Chameleone, Weasel and Pallaso have all confirmed attendance, as well as other artistes, including Bobi Wine, Kenzo, Mun G, Sheeba, King Saha, Gravity and Mowzey Radio.
“The party is about remembering AK47 – the young soul that left the scene when his star was just beginning to shine. The party is meant to keep his candle burning. To get something and contribute to the wellbeing of his children,” said Guvnor Ace, a former close ally to the late singer. RIP AK47!
