At this rate, one might wonder what American singer Ne-Yo discovered in Africa that he had never discovered all these years. Otherwise what would describe his new love for the continent? A few weeks ago, Ne-Yo was the guest performer at the recently concluded MTV Africa Music Awards in South Africa. And just last week, we got info that Ne-Yo will be featured on the Coke Studio Africa show that is filmed in Kenya.
While in Kenya, Ne-Yo will work on a special Coke Studio Africa song alongside five select stars; our own Maurice Kirya and others from Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Mozambique.
This week, Bell Lager announced that the Rn’B Singer will be performing in Uganda. He will headline at the PopN’Jam Bell Nation experience slated for October 30, at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
While Maurice Kirya will eat big in form of a collabo when Ne-Yo comes to Kenya, Talent Africa CEO Aly Allibhai will smile all the way to the bank as Ne-Yo visits our banana republic.
Besides being the booking agent for the Ne-Yo concert, Aly will also be in charge of organising the concert.
When contacted, Aly refused to give us details on how much Ne-Yo cost or how much UBL is paying Talent Africa. However, a source close to him told us that the Talent Africa boss might have bagged about $15,000 (about Shs50m) as commission for his artiste booking services. We are yet to get details of how much Aly will be paid to handle the event.
Meanwhile the Ne-Yo concert is free! However, “terms and conditions apply” as one will have to get 10 codes under the Bell Lager beer crown and send them to 8464, to win a ticket. Winners will be announced weekly.
