At this rate we can comfortably sat that Anne Kansiime is living to the billing of her new title; ‘the Queen of African Comedy!’
She has not only traversed and cracked ribs in different corners of the continent and other parts of the globe, Kansiime is also adding more honours in form of awards to her name every other day.
The most recent award came in over the weekend after the Fun Factory comedian was announced the winner of the Favourite Comedian Award at the Nollywood & African People’s Choice Awards (NAFCA).
According to Kansiime’s UK-based manager Johnson Mujjungu, Kansiime will receive her award at the NAFCA fifth edition to be held in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theatre, 842 Broadway on September 12.
Meanwhile, as the news about the award trickled in, Kansiime returned to the Face of A Child Foundation, an orphanage she visited sometime last year in Zambia. Back then, Kansiime contributed towards construction of a clinic named after her.
And like she posted on her Facebook wall, this time round she didn’t shed tears of sorrow like was the case during her initial visit to the orphanage. “This time round, I had tears of joy. I am happy to have launched a clinic that was initiated during my last visit. I can’t wait to do more and more work here. I’m grateful that they would have me as their icon. I have and will continue to represent these wonderful souls,” Kansiime’s post read.
