Pauline Akurut, 19, is Miss Tourism Teso. She was crowned last Friday at an event that took place at Trend Club & Lounge in Soroti District.
Akurut, who is currently in her S6 vacation, beat 10 other girls to the crown.
The tall and graceful beauty stood out because of oozing confidence, her charming personality and having displayed the best catwalk among the bunch. Also, she answered most of the questions from the judges correctly.
No wonder when her name was read out as the overall winner, the crowd went wild with excitement.
First runner-up was Josephine Atipe, 22, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree holder, while Linda Hope Ateki, 23, currently studying Tourism at Career Institute in Kampala was the second runner-up. Ateki also emerged winner in the Talent category after performing the best cultural Teso dance.
Unlike last year where revellers turned up in small numbers for the event, this time round, it was a full house. The elegant outfits worn by the girls were provided by fashion designer, Brenda Maraka.
The trio will be joining girls from other regions including Karamoja, Buganda, Kigezi and Busoga next week for a three-week boot camp where they will be coached and trained on different life skills, etiquette and most importantly, aspects on tourism before the grand finale later this month.
