As the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) draw closer, Ugandan nominees, Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool have stepped up their voting game. Fan groups of both artistes called for separate meetings in which they engaged in voting for the stars. Some critics were, however, quick to conclude that, Eddy Kenzo’s BET award win played a big role towards the voting trends of both musicians fans.
Bebe’s Gagamel Phamily members met at the Grill Restaurant in Wandegeya over the weekend and they engaged in over two hours of nonstop online voting for both Bebe and Chameleone. According to the group coordinator Richard Kleberson, some fans travelled from as far as Mbarara, Mbale and Jinja to come and participate in the voting. Kleberson told us that the voting meet ups are going to spread across the country. “Leaders of the Bebe Cool fans in various districts will be meeting fans and guiding them on how to vote,” Kleberson told us.
Chameleone’s fans led by stylist Kim Swagga also met at the Leone Island offices in Bunga and they voted for more than two hours over the weekend.
Tonight, Bebe will be holding a voting party at Big Mike’s bar along Acacia Avenue. Chameleone is yet to announce his own voting party. Word is that both artistes will be attending each other’s voting parties. Sources from both camps have also indicated that both artistes will attend Kenzo’s victory party tonight at Club Guvnor.
