After appearing on the Forbes magazine world’s richest people and among Africa’s 30 richest individuals, another magazine has listed tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia as one of the richest Indians globally.
According to a recent publication by Asian Voice magazine, Sudhir is ranked as the 117th richest Indian on earth. His networth is valued at $1.12b (about Shs336trillion). According to the publication, the Indian rich list is meant to illustrate the reach and the range of today’s Indian entrepreneurs both in India and outside India.
The list of the wealthiest 150 Indians in the world is majorly filled with billionaires in the property related sector, pharmaceuticals, conglomerates, healthcare and software.
According to the magazine, the list was compiled by Phillip Beresford- one of the most experienced wealth estimators in the world. Bereford is said to have compiled the UK’s Sunday Times’ annual rich list for twenty six years.
The new ranking also confirms that Sudhir’s worth has risen from $1.1b by Forbes magazine last year, to the $1.12b.
According to Forbes magazine’s 2014 rankings, Sudhir stood at number 1465 on the list of the world’s richest people.
Sudhir was born in Uganda but moved to the UK with his parents at age 16 after President Idi Amin expelled all Asians in 1972.
He returned in the mid 1980s to start up Ruparelia Group, Uganda’s largest conglomerate, with interests in property, banking, education, insurance and agriculture.
