At this rate, we can as well rate Eddy Kenzo as the fastest rising artiste from Uganda. Besides his recent BET nomination, we have learnt Kenzo has also been nominated in the Nigerian Entertainment Awards under the African Artiste of the Year (Non-Nigerian) category. Kenzo is facing off with Ghana’s Mzvee, Stone Boy, AKA, Sarkodie, our in-law, Diamond Platnumz, and Sauti Sol.
As we prepared to pass on our congrats to him, we got more news that Kenzo was appointed the Ugandan brand ambassador for the #Itsnow Airtel continental campaign.
Sources close to the Sitya Loss singer told us that the deal had been sealed last Friday. Kenzo joins multiple African Footballer of the year award winner and Manchester City star Yaya Toure on the African campaign which started recently. The campaign is about people living their dreams and knowing that the time is now.
According to sources within Airtel, Kenzo will headline all countrywide activations for the new campaign and will also travel to some African states to feature on the campaign activations. Kenzo was tightlipped on how much he bagged for the deal, but sources within his Big Talent told us that he had bagged anything in the region of $50,000 (about Shs 160m) for the deal. Congs Kenzo!
