Raves: A place for fine diners

place1

Culinary delight: The restaurant serves several dishes from Italian, to  Mexican, Indian, English and even local Ugandan delicacies, EDGAR R. BATTE writes.

Raves’ beauty stems from its unique and artistic design which seamlessly combines wood, glass and nature; beautiful décor, a serene environment, privacy and its five romantically lit dining areas.
Each of these spots has different moods and purposes, with piped jazz and classical music carefully selected to suit the diner’s comfort. The hangout was beatified by a team of artists, architects and designers led by Abdul Abeine and supported by Sygon Issa Kainamura.
The upstairs’ deck comprises of wooden dining furniture and floor, which is largely reserved for fine diners looking for serene and private environment. There are parasols downstairs to provide an outdoor environment suitable to groups of people looking to experience fresh air.
There is a lounge adjacent to the entrance, with long benches fitted with colourful outdoor cushions, sharing space with natural flower gardens. In the opposite direction is the coffee shop ideal for young lovers on two-people dates. Upstairs, are also two-seaters on the balconies.
Two years after it’s opening, the place has adjusted its menu to cater for Mexican, Indian, Italian, English and a variety of other continental dishes including tortillas, panini, pizza, pasta, quesadillas, sea foods like prawns and hugely tempting burgers.
The changes have seen the place realise an increase in clientele.
“We have improved on the food. We recently introduced a new continental menu. Raves also serves local buffet on parties, diners and other events. I have a new team and we serve yummy pastries including special event cakes cheaper than anywhere else in town. We do free deliveries in our neighbourhood, outside catering,” the proprietor Moses Moya explains.
There is a broad ala carte continental menu as well as a children’s menu. Raves, located on Plot 67B Kanjokya Street in Kamwokya, has an inviting set-up. If you are not having lunch or dinner, then it is a place you might want to go and chill out with friends or to work. There is a free, stable Wi-Fi which you can utilise as you enjoy the ambience and good customer care by the waiters and waitresses. It can accommodate up to 150 guests on its double-floor.
The parking is still limited but it is ample and secure with a guard. You can also pop in for a session of ‘Live Jazz Music on Saxophone (Jazz & Classical) every Thursday, charcoal-roasted chicken and beef barbeque every Friday which you will enjoy as you watch live video-mixing. Every Monday and Tuesday is the Neighbourhood Value fest’.
And as you leave, you will be handed a feedback form which Moya says is intended to help them keep improving. The place is open all week.
