It’s no longer a secret that Capital FM Late Date host, Val Oketcho, will be contesting in the 2016 elections for his late father William Oketcho’s parliamentary seat. Val has vowed to start from where his father stopped in developing West Budama constituency in Tororo District.
Val’s schedule has changed. He no longer spends his weekends with his basketball buddies, but instead heads to Tororo. Val has already received blessings from elders in the area, with the biggest blessing coming from the Tieng Adhola, His Royal Highness Moses Owor – the cultural leader of the area.
Rumour has it that Val, just like his late father, will be contesting on the NRM ticket. Val was advised by elders that in order to be able to try to fit into his old man’s shoes, he should be on ground and understand the issues of his people. He seems to have taken the advice seriously in that he dumped his celebrity cap and his favourite drink- Guinness. He now spends his weekends sipping on pots of ajono aka malwa with elders and potential voters.
Val was overheard telling his colleagues at Capital FM earlier this week that he found his people very intelligent and vowed to continue spending more time with them even after the elections.
