It’s no longer a rumour that Nigerian star singer Timaya is on his way to Uganda for his debut concerts. US-based promoter Suudi Lukwago is said to be behind Timaya’s trip to Uganda, but when we contacted him earlier this week, he directed us to Kayan Promotions. “Those are the people organising the concert, I’m just a booking agent,” Suudi told us.
We have since embarked on finding the owners of Kayan Promotions. However, we received info from very trusted sources that the Timaya concerts have been moved from May 10 to May 16 and May 17. “The promoter didn’t want to collide with Radio & Weasel who have their annual album launch concerts on the weekend of May 8 to 10, so he decided to go with the following weekend,” the source told us.
The source further revealed that unlike several foreign artistes that have their shows in Kampala, the promoters behind Timaya’s shows are making it different. “The shows will be in Jinja and Entebbe on May 16 and 17 respectively.”
The source told us that the promoters settled for Jinja after assessing KCCA regulations and available venues as most concert venues were barred from holding concerts by the city authority.
36-year-old Alfred Odon Enetimi, popularly known as Timaya, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter behind hits like Bum Bum, My Body, Bum Bum remix ft Sean Paul and Sanko, one of Africa’s biggest songs at the moment.
