US-based promoter Suudi Lukwago has been silent for some time, but that doesn’t mean he is out. The Suudiman International boss gave us a call earlier this week and broke the news that he is set to fly in Nigerian singer Timaya.
“It’s agreed and signed; in other words, the deal was sealed, Timaya is on his way to Uganda,” Suudi told us. Last year Suudi was responsible for booking Shaggy, Patra and Burna Boy for the debut Club Beer sponsored Mega Fest held at Namboole Stadium.
Born Enetimi Alfred Odon, Timaya 36, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is the founder of hip hop group Dem Mama Soldiers.
Timaya’s solo career began in 2006. He has been a great force on the Nigerian music scene and his videos and hits have been playing on international media channels for years.
However, the particular Timaya song that turned out a hit in hangouts and night clubs in our banana republic was Bum Bum. And seems like the song was not just an African hit as American-based Jamaican reggage and dancehall sensation Sean Paul linked up with Timaya and jumped on a remix.
Last year, Timaya released Sanko, a club anthem across Africa. He followed it up with My Body, that was also well received. Suudi told us that Timaya will be performing in Uganda on May 10, and he was not willing to divulge more details, but he insisted that we will be the first to know details like venue and charges.
