Singer Eddy Kenzo cannot stop thanking his Allah! Just days back, he was listed in popular mainstream UK publication The Guardian as one of the top five African stars to watch out for in 2015.
The paper listed Kenzo along with Nigeria’s Wizkid, British Ghanaian Mista Silva, Fabregas Le Metis Noir from Congo, and Kid X from South Africa.
But as he was still celebrating his appearance in The Guardian, Kenzo received a phone call from the organisers of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), confirming that they would like him to return and perform at the closing ceremony of Africa’s biggest soccer tourney.
Kenzo who was flown from Gabon in a private jet all the way to Equatorial Guinea to perform at the opening ceremony of this year’s Afcon told us that this all seems like a fairytale.
“Who I’m I really? Who is Eddy Kenzo! A boy from Masaka and he is now in newspapers in the UK, performing while the entire Africa is watching, I continue to thank Allah,” he told us when we contacted him.
