Hustler : Moses Kasule

Inc-wear-1

Kasule used his university  tuition money to buy a laptop and enrol for graphics designing classes in Nairobi. He explains how this was the right decision to do.

What is the name of your business?
Inc Wear Uganda Limited.

When did you start up this business and why?
Me and my friends came up with the idea when we were in high school. We started with a magazine. That was in 2012 and it worked out but I used to go to Nasser Road in my holidays and learned some graphic designing. When I finished school, I continued with the idea until I had saved enough to start designing T-shirts, caps and so on. This was basically my passion from the start.

What exactly does Inc Wear do?
We make themed T-shirts, caps, wrist bands, hoodies, jumpers and bags. We are also still doing the magazine. It costs only Shs2,000 and we print 5,000 copies every term. They are sold in schools.

What are some of your works?
Themed T-shirts that have phrases like Mukibuga Kampala, My City, Things Happen Around Kampala and Love of the City among others.

How muchcapital did you with?
After secondary school, my parents gave me Shs1m for university, but I bought a laptop at Shs800,000, travelled to Nairobi, did a course from my savings out of the magazine sales. I returned to Uganda with all the knowledge. I would say that was what I invested to get where I am.

How have you managed to get your clients?
We use people in entertainment like deejays, emcees and artistes. They act as our agents in the public. Sometimes, we also give freebies once in a while. Also, social media is our main channel of letting the public know about our products.

How much do you sell these items?
Jumpers cost Shs80,000, T-Shirts go for Shs30,000, wristbands cost Shs7,000.  Bags and caps go for Shs50,000 while cross tops for ladies cost between Shs30,000 and Shs 40,000.

Where is your business located?
Level 6, Shop number 15 at Equatorial Mall.
