Ever had a woman post photos of her pregnancy in its early stages? Now, imagine that instead of having photos, we have behind-the-scenes of a video shoot. As a man impatiently awaits his new born, so did I. For Bebe Cool’s music video, it over-promised and under-delivered. In short, it was a visual miscarriage. Not that the video is bad in itself. It has every quality of a good music video. It has one of the most perfect colouring, lighting, those straight up shots, it’s devoid of shaky visuals and the post-digital editing features are commendable.
Yet, we are not comparing this video on what it is on the market; we are comparing it to what it promised to deliver. It’s not worth the wait, considering that it was shot by God Father Productions and the artiste had to fly all the way to South Africa to get the job done. The video doesn’t justify making that journey or using that video production house.
The effects are very basic to the best. You could easily mistake them for lights on a Christmas tree. What about the curtains used in this video? You can get better apparels in Kiyembe. And then Bebe Cool’s sense of fashion is wanting. Except at the wedding scene, his sense of fashion in the other scenes reeked of poverty.
Maybe a month from now, we may see this music video for what it really is. Just may be. Perhaps it will be re-done, with a storyline that connects the dots in a more perfect way. Not to downplay the narration in the video, I still feel it didn’t live up to the billing. The scenes of the wedding and the old lovely couple try to impress, but in bits. This video confirms the dictum; “don’t count your chicks until they hatch.”
