Thursday plot: Different musicians are chosen to be accompanied by a live by band, writes EDGAR R. BATTE

Every Thursday evening, a crowd sits by the poolside at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi. It is an ideal night out if you are thinking of enjoying a drink or meal under the stars, by the poolside, as the band winds the time away, in a melodic way.
Peter Kisakye, the hotel’s marketing manager says they introduced a band every Thursday, as a complimentary treat to patrons who go to the hotel to enjoy the evening.
Last week, as 2015 was ushered in, guitarist Myko Ouma was on stage with upcoming female singer Lydia Jasmine. You will recognise her for her collaboration with Rabadaba, titled You Know. She is also the voice behind songs such as Ngada, Whenever He Is Away and Mwagala Biriyo, among others, which she performed on the night.
Ouma was good support to the promising female performer, as he exhibited his skills at playing the guitar and delivering acoustic versions of her groovy songs that got the crowd energised.
She also had a host of good back-up instrumentalists. These included Emmanuel Dragu and Joseph Kizito on the saxophone, Samuel Bisaso on the bass guitar and Ambrose Tugume on the drums.
The Band has been playing at the hotel for about two months now. Different artistes are invited to feature on the nights. At last week’s do a few revellers got tickled off their seats.
Comedians Patrick Idringi aka Salvador, Alex Muhangi joined The Band on stage to perform songs of their favourite artistes. The crowd was amused as these two pulled off fairly-good performances.
“So you thought we were just comedians?” Salvador boasted amid cheers from the crowd. Singer Irene Ntale was in the audience and fans asked her to do a number, and she was kind to do an acapela version of her Gyobela hit.
“We are planning to do this every Thursday to keep our patrons entertained. On January 12, we shall be launching karaoke nights at one of our bars called Pebbles, where revellers can be entertained or entertain each other by singing their favourite song,” Kisakye adds. Karaoke nights will be on every Monday, starting at 7pm and they will go until about midnight.
