When his fans saw Wale Wale as one of the big songs advertised on the banners for the just concluded annual Tondeka E’kiwatule concert, many thought Bebe Cool had run mad.
Mad, because, Bebe has not been seeing eye to eye with Wale Wale singer Jose Chameleone for years.
However, the man was not mad because at a few minutes to midnight, the Gagamel band played the Bogolako remix track and Jose Chameleone joined Bebe on stage amidst deafening cheers that spread all over the Kiwatule grounds.
Just like they have done in the past, Chameleone and Bebe hugged several times on stage as their fans cheered. They also went through their journey from Nairobi and how they have managed to stay on top of the industry.
But we have it on good record that Chameleone and Bebe’s reunion this time round has everything to do with money.
A well-placed source told us that during the recent ruling party meetings, it was agreed that Chameleone and Bebe are still the biggest entertainers in the land and therefore will head the entertainers’ list for the 2016 campaigns.
Bebe and Chameleone each met senior members of NRM and they negotiated deals to be part of the campaigns this year. And after each had arrived at a comfortable figure, the two archrivals were ordered to either reunite or forget the money.
Immediately, the two singers re-established contact through text messages and the two met at the Kampala Serena Hotel with the NRM leaders earlier in December.
Bebe openly told the NRM leaders that Chameleone was unreliable and he never sticks to his word. To prove how serious he was this time round, Chameleone offered to perform at Bebe’s concert, which he did last Friday.
Bebe and Chameleone are both believed to be awaiting to pocket close to Shs500m each for the deal.
