Like we told you a few months back, Hollywood Oscar winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyongó is set to fly into the country this March.
The 12 Years A Slave movie star will be in town to star in a new movie The Queen of Katwe that is about Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.
The movie, by esteemed director Mira Nair, the founder of the Maisha Film Labs – a Uganda-based film training initiative, has already received global mentions in different media outlets.
Queen of Katwe, is about Mutesi’s story; a story of life, chess, and one extraordinary girl’s dream of becoming a grandmaster. Mutesi, who hails from Katwe, has also been the subject of short documentaries and news reports, capturing her inspiring story.
Nyongo will play the role of Mutesi’ s mother and the movie will be shot in Uganda starting March.
