True, alcohol and athletics do not mix, and therefore this has no relation to the famous “keep sipping!” line Kiprotich made in an advert for a mineral water company.
We have it on good authority that the 2012 Olympic marathon champion recently assumed management of the Namboole Stadium based bar, Tendo Grill.
According to reliable sources, Kiprotich had earlier shown interest in running the Namboole Stadium VIP area bar, but the stadium management turned his request down.
A source told us that Kiprotich gathered interest in the business, after a stadium official leaked info to him that management was in search of someone to take over the former Tendo Grill, which is located on the southern wing of the stadium.
After consultations with a relative knowledgeable on bar business, Kiprotich returned with even a bigger plan, of running both the outside bar and VIP Bar. However, the management could only offer Kiprotich the Tendo Grill space. And as you read this, Kiprotich is busy renovating the bar, which sources said will open towards the end of this month.
The former Tendo Grill owner, a one Kisembo, is said to have accumulated debts amounting to several million shillings before the management closed the facility. All the best Kiprotich.
Meanwhile, the athelete is mourning after losing his daughter last Friday. May her soul rest in peace.
