Macho Paisley print. Floral is no longer a no go area for men
I was one of the fashion fans at the Sea Cliff Hotel in Dar es Salaam at the just concluded Swahili Fashion Week. Well, I’ll save you the details of how amazing I looked, and skip to the part where the showcases were definitely a must see.
My personal favourite was the collection by Tanzanian designer Martin Kadinda. He showed us what all men should be wearing in 2015; paisley print, much more floral and fun. The collection, mainly men’s pieces was paired with fuscia. This print can be worn both on the bottoms and the top, or even both.
Now here is the trick in pulling off the look and not coming off as a clown. To begin with, choose where to wear it to. Do not and I repeat do not wear this print to a job interview, unless you’re applying for a stylist position. Keep this print for the weekend looks. Then, depending on what part of the body you choose to wear the print, keep the other pieces toned down.
However, this is not one of those prints that you can dress down. If you choose to wear it, then dress up. From what the models wore at the showcase, they went all out, with suspenders, scarves, and brogues.
Kudos Martin, that collection was a good premonition of what we should expect on the fashion scene in 2015.
