If you remember the song Ndowa back in 2007, then you ought to be familiar with Zani Lady C. She is one of those few artistes living out of Uganda that mananged to penetrate the local music industry. Zani is the younger sister of renowned dancehall artiste Shanks vivie D and reportedly a model and actress based in California.
Well, our focus is on her latest single Love Golo Golo. She always experiments with different genres in her music, and on this track, she sings Tropical music, that kind of music from the Caribbean with danceable instrumentals one will find in Latin pop.
Her main topic of interest is love and all the drama that surrounds it. In this song, she talks to her lover assuring him that she will stick with him despite what haters say. She tries to keep her music continental singing in English, Luganda and Kiswahili, a characteristic I think more local artistes should take on.
However one might not find her music on their local charts because she is an artiste who targets to appeal to a crowd that wants to appreciate music as art form. She does not use auto tune but rather sings live on a given beat, which is good, but today integrating technology in music is vital in getting appreciated by a larger audience.
