On Monday morning, Roger Mugisha posted on his Facebook wall hinting at the possibility that former Super FM General Manager Joel Isabirye’s drama with wife Rebecca Jjingo was a propagation aimed at creating media buzz and thus influencing ongoing Synovate/ Ipsos research in Jjingo’s favour.
“This radio business gets revitalised every time ‘field research’ by synovate/Ipsos is undertaken. I wonder which stunt will win the day; 1. My radio wife stabbed me and stole Shs30m from the laptop bag, 2. Mzungu ruined my career, 3. Listen and win etc… At this rate I better do a stunt with Desire oba? Radio! radio! radio! where publicity stunts make you or break you! I will let this one pass,” read Roger’s post.
Being just a floor away, we touched base with Roger and he didn’t hesitate even for a second as he explained his statement; “There are researchers going around asking people about radio personalities, that is why you see all these stunts.”
Joel is a radio consultant and he is playing his game for the wife’s rating to remain up there. He even posted about it on his wall. But he lost it when he shared so much info with certain media houses while downplaying the same info in other media outlets,” Roger explained.
The KFM morning show host also didn’t have kind words for his former workmate at Capital FM, Alex Ndawula; “Even Alex decided to play the game and hopefully the sympathy vote in accusing William Pike for ruining his career makes him wonders.”
We don’t know about Alex, after all he has been on radio long enough to give way for new talent, but Roger was not alone on the Joel-Jjingo drama. Some other critics were of the same thinking with Roger; “Joel is a researcher and he knows some of the weird things that influence research. Wait, you’ll see him congratulate his wife for emerging the top female radio presenter in the land,” said a critic who preferred anonymity.
Meanwhile, while appearing at an LC handover ceremony in Masanafu at the weekend, Jjingo seemed happy and told the gathering that all was well with her. Over to you Joel, Jjingo and Alex!
