Seven years after his death, Lucky Dube’s family is making an effort to have the world remember him. News coming to us is that the great reggae star’s family and his former production team agreed to have a few selected leading artistes redo his hits.
We can confirm that Jose Chameleone is one of the artistes contacted for this project and he might probably be the only East African artiste representing.
He is expected to fly to South Africa, where he will meet with the team behind the project and discuss details of the project. Speaking exclusively to Sqoop magazine at the launch of his One Million show at Kampala Serena Hotel last week, the Wale Wale singer said he was honoured: “It’s not a financial venture, it’s remembering a legend, polishing his legacy. He still stands among Africa’s greatest men; Lucky Dube is somewhere close to his fallen president Nelson Mandela,” Chameleone said.
Besides the Lucky Dube project, Chameleone will be flying to South Africa to perform in the Big Brother House. Our prayer is that he performs while Ellah is still in the house!
