Three years on: International University of East Africa won the Inter-University Fashion Awards and also toasted to their third anniversary
It was a memorable day last Friday evening as the International University of East Africa not only emerged the overall winner at the annual Inter-University Fashion Awards, but also celebrated its third anniversary.
The event that took place at the campus premises at Wonder World in Kansanga saw other universities including Kampala University, St Lawrence University, Makerere University Business School, Makerere University and Buganda Royal University, participate.
The students competed in different categories including casual wear, which was won by St Lawrence University, the hosts IUEA scooped the evening, cultural and beach wear categories while KIU took home the formal (office) and creative wear categories.
IUEA, KIU and St Lawrence also took three models’ prizes in the individual categories.
The evening also had entertainment from Geosteady, the Avenger Dancers, the Muscular, and the Talanta Group, which is mentored by legendary Saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa.
The chief guest Susan Nakawuki, a representative in the East African Legislative Assembly said the event was colourful and interesting because different cultures and backgrounds of different people were showcased in one place, one of the key aspects of the East African Community.
The Africa Premier Health issued out a one year insurance package to the eventual winner. After all the tense anticipation that comes with comeptitions, the students were treated to a barbecue at the pool side and music mixes for the rest of the night.
