We have it on good authority that Nile Breweries rushed to hold the press conference at which they unveiled their Club Mega Fest, before they had scheduled to do so.
According to sources within NBL, the story in which we revealed some of the names of the artistes Club Beer is lining up for their Club Mega Fest, that we ran on these very pages last Friday, caused panic and unrest at the Nile Breweries Ltd (NBL) offices in Luzira.
Our sources told us that top management called for a crisis meeting and they all echoed in unison to rush the unveiling the Club Mega Fest details before we could Sqoop deeper.
Club has been running a teaser on TV, radio and newspapers talking about the “1 mega festival, 2 mega stages, 4 mega international acts, 12 hours mega hours of partying, 20 mega Ugandan superstars.”
However, we were quite swift as we managed to name Burna Boy and Mafikizolo as some of the artistes who had been lined up. And on Tuesday, Club Beer called for a press briefing at Serena Hotel at which the news of the Club Mega Fest, that is set to not only stretch the boundaries of music concerts, but rather break them, was broken.
Like we told you, Club will be flying in South African duo Mafikizolo and Nigeria’s Burna Boy for the event.
Sam Hooper, the Club Pilsener Brand Manager announced Shaggy and Patra as the two international acts that will entertain music lovers come September 20. Hooper also announced that the fest will be held at Namboole Stadium.
Many have been wondering why bring Shaggy who has been here several times. “The choice of artistes was informed by the brand’s drive to ensure that everyone’s interests are catered for, and this is what we’ve got from Club customers countrywide. That’s what Club is all about,” Hooper said.
