Ugandan born UK-based singers Dennis Muggaga and Daniel Ssewagudde a.k.a. Ganda Boys became the first Ugandan artistes to perform at the much acclaimed Fringe Festival. The event, held in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is one of the biggest arts festivals in the world. It takes place every August for three weeks.
The Ganda Boys were not just the first Ugandan artistes to perform at the prestigious festival, but they put up an outstanding performance that has since got rave reviews throughout UK. Their performance got a five-star rating by The Evening Standard newspaper.
Dennis Muggaga said this exposure will help them expand their fanbase and added that it’s time for Uganda to export music to the world, “not only to Ugandan communities abroad (nkuba kyeyos)!”
The organisers booked the Ganda Boys for a week-long performance at the same festival next year. They are also working on a collaboration with Lady Blacksmith Mambazo, who also performed at the festival.
