It was jubilation as Victoria University students were awarded degrees and diplomas at the university’s first graduation ceremony. There was cause for celebration as their education hang in balance when the university was closed after UK-based University of Burkingham that was affiliated to university pulled out after the Anti-Homosexuality Bill was tabled in Parliament.
Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia took over the university last year and students were able to continue with their studies. The inaugural graduation ceremony was held at Kabira Country Club and the guest of honour was the education Minister Major Jessica Alupo. She praised the university’s management for equipping students with state of the art technology for persuing their studies. And there was no need for those lavish graduation parties as Sudhir hosted the graduands and their parents to a party after the event.
