He is indeed a very daring individual and probably that’s what has made him stand out all these years. Many people thought Chameleone was under the influence of some illicit drugs when he announced that he would hold his Tubonge concert at the Lugogo Cricket Oval this year, because the venue is usually reserved for international concerts. But the singer lived up to his word.
And yes, it’s no longer a rumour; Jose Chameleone is daring once again. The singer came out this week and re-assured us that he is serious about holding a Shs1m per head concert. The show slated for December 19 at the Victoria Hall, Kampala Serena Hotel will be the most expensive show ever in the history of Ugandan music.
Chameleone’s manager Robert Nkuke a.k.a. Mutima, confirmed to us earlier this week, that the venue had been booked and the date confirmed for the show.
Chameleone announced that he has codenamed the show “One man, One show, One Stage, One million.”
He made it clear that the show is for people that have money and wish to spend without limits. “If you don’t have the money to pay, better stay home and take care of your family. There will be no bargaining!” Chameleone assured us.
Some critics think Chameleone is trying to dwarf his close rivals Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine’s efforts. Bobi held a free charity concert at the Cricket Oval last year and Chameleone responded by holding a commercial concert at the same venue. Bebe is holding his Best of Bebe Cool concert at the Serena Hotel next month and it will cost Shs50,000 per head. Tables will cost Shs3m while VVIP will cost Shs5m. Chameleone has responded by booking Serena for a show that will cost Shs1m per head. Will Chameleone live up to his challenge? December is just months away.
