The article titled “Is this the funniest stand-up comedian in East Africa?” is dedicated to our very own Patrick Idringi a.k.a Salvado. In the article, the Kenyan blogger takes us through his observations at a function where MultiChoice was showcasing its content to over 85 journalists in Mauritius.
The writer tackles how East African comedians gather and execute their jokes. After describing Tanzanians as generally “not funny,” the writer sums up his fellow countrymen in the comedy trade as lacking. He then turns to Salvado, who was one of the performers at the event and showers him with praises.
“He was not just hilarious, he was hysterical. Every joke was delivered with the right punch. Laughter drowned the room. Everything – tables, chairs – floated in this mirth. You laughed so hard and even before you could recover you actually feel another one building up under your shoes, like a seismic wave,” read part of the article.
The blogger is evidently not the only person that thinks Salvado is funny; MultiChoice Africa who recently gave the Ombokolo-born comedian an advert deal, think Salvado is a very funny man.
The latest is that the continental pay TV is set to roll out a continental comedy tour. The tour which will go to about 10 countries will feature some of Africa’s funniest comedians. And guess who has been chosen from East Africa? Yes, you guessed right; it’s our very own Salvado. Which makes us ask the same question as the blogger, is Salvado the funniest standup comedian in East Africa?
