When singer Bebe Cool promised to take his son Alpha Thierry to the Arsenal soccer academy, many people laughed off his dream. But after realising that he probably couldn’t afford the UK-based academy, Bebe resorted to the local Proline Soccer Academy.
And Bebe’s son has not disappointed. Alpha was recently spotted by Kololo Soccer Academy during a training session with Proline. “They asked us to let them take him as a member of the team they were taking to Spain for the Donosti Cup competitions,” Alpha’s mother Zuena told us.
Apparently Bebe welcomed the idea and agreed to foot the bills for his son to be part of the Ugandan team that is representing us at the prestigious tournament. According to Zuena, they have hopes that Alpha might be spotted by other soccer scouts and he might end up in a bigger and better team that will groom him into a future footie star.
Alpha, a striker, left for Spain on Saturday and he has had this whole week to impress. “We are praying for the best,” Zuena told us.
It should be noted that Alpha’s grandfather Jaberi Bidandi Ssali was a soccer star who even managed the Uganda Cranes team that reached the 1978 African Cup of Nations tournament. The singing genes might have skipped Alpha, but he sure took on his grand dad’s soccer skills.
