Fashion tip > with Gloria Haguma
The thing about fashion is that there are always a million ways to twist and wear something. Just when we were still getting used to the coloured suit, in came the cropped suit. By cropped, I mean you could go for the cropped trousers, or have the jacket cropped, or even better, both. This trend has been set by the likes of Pharrell Williams and Tinie Tempah, and has also been sighted on a few red carpets here in Kampala.
The number one rule when trying out this trend is the no socks rule, especially if you are wearing the trousers cropped. The purpose of the cropped pants is for you to be able to show off your ankles. While at it, opt for sophisticated steppers, like brogues, oxfords, or slipper loafers.
The other rule is where to wear them to. Do not show up for an executive meeting in a cropped pants suit. It should be kept for occasions like weddings, fashion shows, house parties, and the like. The only meeting this suit can go for is a stylist job interview, because here, you are trying to impress and your stylish suit may come in handy.
You can turn the look around, opting for a T-shirt, instead of the formal tie and shirt. For instance, add a striped shirt to your cropped suit, and complete this look with a fedora hat.
Don’t come off as trying too hard by wearing over the board accessories. The cropped suit is statement enough, so keep it simple, and let it stand out. This trend hasn’t really picked up that well here in Kampala, so maybe this could be your chance to be the Kampala trend setter with this suit.
