As he prepares for the big stage, comedian Patrick Idringi, a.k.a. Salvado, had to make some sacrifices along the way. Such sacrifices included spending weeks away from his daughter Ruby. He has also been rare on the home (Ugandan) entertainment scene ever since he signed up to Nigerian leading comedian Basket Mouth’s Maggie Petersons Agents. The agency has offices in London and Lagos.
But the sacrifices seem to be paying off as Salvado recently acquired a new ride. He finally substituted his six-year old Toyota Premio with a new Toyota Harrier, a few weeks ago.
And with so much ahead of Salvado, who performed at the 2013 Glo-Caf Awards in Lagos earlier this year, he just made another big sacrifice. Salvado is set to quit Capital Radio where he has been co-hosting the evening drive along with veteran presenter Alex Ndawula and Lucky. He told us he is will stop presenting at the end of this month.
“I have been quite unfair to Capital FM with my absenteeism from work, yet they gave me a platform and they have never raised any queries,” Salvado noted.
So, he thought it fair to quit presenting so that the station can find a person who will be there all the time.
“I have a series of shows coming up. I’ll be flying to South Africa to do shows for three weeks and then return to Kampala for a week. I am going to do this for three months before I start on another tour in Denmark and Sweden,” he revealed.
“Now, in all fairness, why on earth would I cheat a station I love so much and receive a salary yet I will not be available,” he wondered.
Despite becoming a globe trotter of sorts, he has not forgotten that home is best and he is planning some mega shows here. “I have worked with all big comedians on the continent and I am bringing all of them to Kampala, watch the space,” he said.
