stress free – Eddie Kenzo & Faceoff

KenzoEddy Kenzo and his boy are tired. And by tired here, I do not mean sounding awful; I mean it in the contemporary form, that they are Bakoowu. They are tired of stress, especially if that stress is avoidable. And oh, you feel like shouting a “Preach, preacher!” to these fellows.

Life is already too hard. We are just from a dry season, where temperature levels have been at over 30 degrees Celsius, giving us desert fever; the economy is bad and living standards are despicable; unemployment is rising like it wants to reach the moon; and our politicians, who should sort our situation, are only sorting theirs. The last thing you want is avoidable stress. Faceoff could have sounded better, but boy he was on point rapping thus, “Baby if you want a Lamborghini, that is not me…if you want to ride a boda boda, baby, that’s me.” He, right there, was lyricising an everyday relationship situation, where you return home from a hard day at work, only to be told you need to buy a new car, because the neighbour did.

Music makes much more sense when it can transplant itself into your very state. And for that, Kenzo and Faceoff strike at the right chords. For a song that has a usable chorus line to boost its value, Stress Free is a very welcome act from the arts, because who knows, musicians may soon add themselves to psychologists and medics, in creating bodies of knowledge on stress.
