“I could have been pronounced dead last night after I got involved in a terrible car accident at the Electoral Commission traffic lights or rather traffic dummies since they don’t work past midnight. Everybody else who was involved is in hospital apart from me. I give thanks to the Almighty for my life,” singer Bobi Wine posted on his Facebook wall on Tuesday.
Bobi was travelling in his wife’s car, a Jeep Cherokee, which was rammed into by a speeding saloon car.
According to Barbie, the speeding car rammed into the vehicle as his driver negotiated a turn at the Jinja Road traffic lights. “Bobi was sleeping. He was in the passenger seat and he had rolled it down to get a better sleeping position. The car was knocked on the side where Bobi was, but he walked out without any injury.”
Barbie told us that her hubby’s driver sustained a fracture in his arm while the driver of the other vehicle and the passenger in the front seat both sustained serious injuries and fractured legs.
“Bobi lost consciousness for some minutes because it was his side that was hit and he was asleep. However, he woke up and he was feeling very fine. He actually returned straight home and we woke up and went to Nakaseke Hospital to preside over a ceremony by Save the Children, the following morning,” Barbie added.
Barbie insisted Bobi would go for a checkup at Case Clinic later that evening.
She told us that her car was seriously damaged and was, together with the other car, were towed to Jinja Road police.
