Who said Ugandan musicians cannot be on the same stage with Nigerians and walk away victorious. If you really doubt, then you need to visit this link www.newsday.co.zw!
The Zimbabwean News Day newspaper reports our very own Bebe Cool left a mark in Harare at a show where he faced Nigeria’s D’banj, also a highly ranked musician on the continent.
According to the News Day article about the just concluded Battle of Champions show held at the Glamis Arena last Saturday: “Musician D’Banj, proved more of a studio than stage musician as he failed to perform to expectations of hundreds of Zimbabweans!”
The story went on: “Regardless of some of his tracks such as Fall in love, Pop Something, Why Me, Mr Endowed, and Oliver Twist being popular in the country as they received massive airplay on local radio stations and rocked night clubs, the night belonged to his visiting counterpart, Ugandan ragga musician Bebe Cool, real name Moses Ssali.”
Defining Bebe’s act as “well-choreographed, the writer praised Bebe’s performance as one “full of energy” and also commended the Kokodiosis singer for “keeping the fans on their feet with a top drawer performance.”
On the other hand, the writer matched the Fall in Love hitmaker (D’banj’s) performance to local (Zimbabwean) dancer Beverly Sibanda’s style.
“He (D’banj) spent much of his time speaking about how Zimbabwean ladies were good at waist-twisting,” the writer stated.
Congs Bebe upon the victory and thanks for flying the UG flag high.
