This will not only put a smile on the faces of the organisers of the Battle of champions between Bebe Cool and Good Lyfe and Jamaican dancehall singer Busy Signal’s show, but basically to all Ugandan music lovers.
Kampala metropolitan police commander, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, earlier this week told us that there is no way both the battle of champions and Busy Signal shows can happen on the same day.
According to Kaweesi, the venues of the concerts (Kyadondo Rugby Grounds and Lugogo Cricket Oval) are so near each other and are separated by a highway, hence there will be a high risk of accidents and chaos.
Of late Uganda is on a terror alert and Afande Kaweesi insisted that”we cannot take any chances.”
Both Busy Signal and the battle of champions are being advertised for December 6. The Busy Signal concert is being organised by US-based promoter Suudi Lukwago while the Battle of champions is being organised by promoter Abtex and a few partners.
During a press conference this week, Suudi indicated that Busy Signal has a very busy schedule and will not be able to switch dates easily. We are yet to hear from the organisers of the Battle of champions!
But for now, we are thankful to Afande Kaweesi for such a great decision as we shall be able to catch both shows.
