Everyone is driven by something but Rush is driven by the love for cars and speed. The movie is all about speed and cars. Two-time Academy Award winner Ron Howard who has starred in movies like A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon, once again teams with two-time Academy Award nominated writer Peter Morgan on Rush.

They recreate the merciless and legendary 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between gifted English playboy James Hunt and his disciplined Austrian opponent, Niki Lauda. These two drivers were stars during what has been described as the sexy and glamorous golden age of racing.

The film takes you beyond the race track into their personal lives and clashes on and off the Grand Prix racetrack. In essence, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error.

The film was shot on location in the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria. Filming took place at the former World War II airfield of Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire, the Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Brands Hatch motor racing circuits in England, and at the Nürburgring in Germany.

The cars in the movie are vintage race cars and replicas were used in the filming. The film’s orchestral score was composed by Hans Zimmer, a German film composer and music producer.

The soundtrack includes 1970s rock music by Dave Edmunds, Steve Winwood, Mud, Thin Lizzy, and David Bowie.
