You want an action movie that is thrilling and captivating with many twists and is full of suspense? If the answer is yes, then Gangster Squad is the movie you should watch. But, there is a disclaimer – it is not for the faint hearted because of the countless bloody scenes. This is an enjoyable movie that you will effortlessly watch till the end. And like in many other movies, good triumphs over evil. This is good but the movie plot advocates for the saying that “the end justifies the means”. So the good guys Sarge John O’Mara (Josh Brolin), Jerry (Ryan Gosling) and Officer Coleman (Anthony Mackie), end up engaging in despicable acts to nail an untouchable criminal Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) . They pay heavily for this and end up on a mission to stop the bad guys with vengeful hearts. The fact that it is a movie would make it okay because we all know they are not true tales but that it is based on a true story doesn’t leave you at ease. Nonetheless because of curiosity on how the twists play out, you will continue watching. The setting though is good. It is set in the 1950s and so are the cars, equipment, music and hotels – this adds something classy to the movie. I loved the cars they used.
