On Monday, Bobi Wine and wife Barbie celebrated their second anniversary as husband and wife. They were thousands of miles apart but Bobi made a post on his Facebook wall that made everyone get to know a bit of what he shares with his wife.
“On this date of every year, a beautiful feeling engulfs me, I feel like it’s just the two of us on this planet. When I first met you, I did not imagine you could ever be mine…Now we are 12 years into a beautiful and fruitful relationship that has overpowered all challenges and prevailed. Today I am celebrating two years with gold on my finger. Thanks for trusting me with your precious hand in marriage….happy anniversary my bestest friend.”
However, Bobi couldn’t be with Barbie because he was away on business in the US. And as luck would have it, a day to their anniversary, Bobi performed at what critics think is the biggest concert of his life at the moment.
Together with Jamaican dancehall star Mr G through their Africa-Jamaica connect initiative, they were part of the entertainers at this year’s International Reggae Splash held in New York last Sunday.
“I’m proud to have represented Mama Africa. The lineup had Mavado, Junior Reid, Mr G, Elephant Man, Lady G, I Wayne, Assasin (Agent Sasco), Pichas, Lady Ann, Nado Ranks, Barlington Levy and a host of soca artistes from all over the world,” read part of a message Bobi sent us.
Bobi returned home on Wednesday but flew out hours later for a South African tour. “This weekend I am hitting Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town,” he told us.
Go Bobi, hold the Ugandan flag way up high.
